Frequently Asked Questions

The things people ask us most often, answered honestly — including the ones where the real answer is 'it depends'.

  • How much does leak detection cost?

Every leak is different. Some leaks are straightforward to locate, while others require a more in-depth investigation depending on the property's construction, the pipework, and the nature of the leak.

To suit different types of investigations, we offer two pricing options:

Hourly Rate — Minimum one-hour charge, then charged in 30-minute intervals. Suitable for investigations where the scope of work is uncertain.

Fixed-Price Investigation — Suitable for customers who want price certainty before work begins and for insurance claims that require a fixed investigation fee.

Before any work starts, we'll discuss the most suitable pricing option with you so you understand exactly how the investigation will be charged.

  • Will you damage my property?

Our approach is to locate leaks using non-invasive detection methods wherever possible, helping to minimise disruption to your property.

We use specialist equipment including thermal imaging, moisture mapping, tracer gas, and other diagnostic methods to identify the source of leaks without unnecessary damage.

If access is required during an investigation, we will always discuss this with you beforehand and explain the reason why it is necessary.

  • How long does an inspection take?

The duration of an investigation depends on several factors, including the type of leak, the property's construction, accessibility, and the diagnostic methods required.

Some investigations may be straightforward, while others require a more detailed assessment to accurately identify the source of the issue.

We take the time needed to carry out a thorough investigation and provide you with clear findings and recommendations.

  • Do you repair leaks, or will I need a plumber afterwards?

Yes, we provide leak repair services alongside our detection investigations.

Once the source of the leak has been identified, we can carry out suitable repairs where possible. If a repair falls outside the work we handle directly, we'll be upfront about this and point you towards a trusted specialist rather than taking on work that isn't the right fit.

Our priority is always to provide the correct solution for your property.

  • Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes, we assist customers with insurance-related leak investigations by providing detailed findings and professional reports where required.

Our reports can include details of the investigation, testing carried out, results, and recommendations to help support your insurance claim.

Please note that insurance policies and claim requirements vary, so we recommend checking with your insurer before arranging any work.

Fixed-price investigation quotes can also be provided where required for insurance purposes.

  • What areas do you cover?

We cover London, Essex, and the surrounding areas — including Hampstead, Highgate, Barnet, Finchley, Mill Hill, Totteridge, Muswell Hill, St John's Wood, Richmond, Wimbledon, Dulwich, Chelsea in London, and Chigwell, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill, Epping, Theydon Bois, Brentwood, Ingatestone, Billericay, Chelmsford, Saffron Walden in Essex.

We are also able to attend locations outside our standard service area, subject to a travel fee which will be confirmed before attendance. Travel costs vary depending on location, so please get in touch for a personalised quote.
