Who we are
Direct Leak Detection (“we”, “us”) provides leak detection and repair services across London, Essex and the surrounding areas. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at info@dld247.com or by phone on 07377 923413.
What we collect
When you submit a booking or contact us, we collect:
- Your name, phone number and email address — so we can confirm the appointment and contact you about it.
- The property address — so we know where to attend.
- Your description of the problem, and any photos or videos you choose to upload.
- The date you selected, and a record that you accepted our cancellation and payment terms, including when.
- Technical information — your IP address and browser user agent, recorded with the submission to help us identify and block spam.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, card or bank details through this website. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To carry out the work you've asked for — arranging, confirming and attending your appointment, and invoicing afterwards. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To send booking confirmations and appointment reminders by email. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To produce investigation reports, including for insurance claims where you ask us to. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and our legitimate interests in evidencing our work.
- To keep records and protect the site from abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- To understand how the site is used, if you consent to analytics cookies. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Photos and videos of your property
Files you upload are stored in a private storage area. They are not published, not indexed by search engines, and not accessible from a public web address. When we need to view them we generate a temporary link that expires. We use them only to understand and investigate your leak, and to support any report you ask us to produce.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — stores booking records and uploaded files.
- Resend — sends your confirmation and reminder emails.
- Google Calendar — holds your appointment, including the details needed to attend it.
- Our website host — runs the website and its server logs.
- Google Analytics — only if you accept analytics cookies.
Some of these providers operate servers outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
How long we keep it
- Booking and job records — up to 6 years after the work, which matches the limitation period for contract claims in England and Wales and the period HMRC expects business records to be kept.
- Photos and videos — kept while they remain relevant to the job or a related claim, then deleted.
- Enquiries that never become bookings — deleted within 12 months.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete it, where we don't have an overriding reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it.
- Ask us to transfer it to another provider.
- Withdraw consent, where consent is what we relied on.
To exercise any of these, email info@dld247.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies
We use only what's necessary to make the site work, plus optional analytics cookies that are never set unless you accept them. See our Cookie Notice for detail.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
